Why a Christian Videographer?

Does a Christian Wedding Videographer really make a difference?

Yes!

In my experience, I wish me and my husband had a Christian Wedding Videographer. Don’t get me wrong, they did a fantastic job filming, capturing the right angles, lighting, and everything, but there were a few things I wish we had connected more on.

I was so excited when I got the email with our finished wedding video. I held back my excitement and waited to watch it for the first time with my husband when he got off of work.

We cast the video to the TV and hit play.

The music was more mainstream pop, and it didn’t really communicate who we were as a couple very well, but I figured perhaps thats normal, and I wasn’t going to hang any serious judgment on the music choice. It really was expertly filmed and edited, and the colors were beautiful. They captured all the joy and the excitement leading up to the ceremony.

Once the ceremony part began, I was curious if any part of our pastor’s message would be included. It’s a short video, but we were miked up.

No sound.

That’s okay, at least we will have the vows, I told myself. Our videographer had asked if we wanted vows included, and we told them yes. To me, this is a very important part of a wedding video. When I look back in a couple years, I want to hear and remember these vows we made to each other. My husband and I choose to do the traditional vows. I personally believe they are traditional and timeless for a reason. They are beautiful and cover everything a vow should cover. So imagine my surprise when the ceremony ended and we exited down the aisle all without a single word being spoken. There were no vows included.

Now, while this is not what I had in mind, I promise I didn’t freak out. I figured I would just reach out and ask what happened and if they could be added in. When I asked why they weren’t included and if they could be, they responded, saying we didn’t give vows. I’ll be honest, at this point, I was a little less calm. No vows? They were thee vows, the traditional ones.

They were expecting custom vows that they would overlay in the intro of the video as the guests were arriving and we were getting ready, while I expected the traditional vows with us at the alter before God, sealing our covenant. Regardless of the confusion and different expectation, I asked if they could include this in the video. I had not asked for the raw footage and all the audio files, but they opted to do this instead of making the edit themselves, which I am ever grateful for, because normally the raw footage is quite costly.

This gave me the opportunity to edit my own wedding video the way I wanted, with Christ at the center (and perhaps a bit longer). This made a huge difference to me. Now, our song choices were Christian love songs, and part of the message from our pastor could be included in the video.

Overall, I am still happy with what we received from our videographers, but it can’t quite compare to a video that centers around our faith like the one I was able to edit afterwards. So yes, a Christian Wedding Videographer does make a difference .
